Oui Oui, another leetle French place has sprung up in Welly. This time quite unexpectedly down Courtenay Place end of town, under Chow on Tory St; le Samourai. Chow owners continue to build their empire. Their inspiration came from a French film of the same name and they’ve replicated the fitout as per the film as well. Continue reading

Gypseys, tramps and thieves!
Gipsy Kitchen in Jessie Street is the baby sister of Gipsy Kitchen in Strathmore- not spelt gypsy the way we know it. The Strathmore location at night is fab. Their tapas are to die for. The city location is on a way smaller scale but packs in a lot of punch within its tight space. The ecletic décor is divine; from the fabulous bright mural outside which flows nicely into equally bright colours inside. No sign of any gypsies, tramps or thieves today though. Continue reading
In need of a Brazilian?!
The former Osteria del Toro is now Welly’s first ever Brazilian Churrascaria. No it has nothing to do with churros! It’s traditional, authentic Gaucho cuisine; Portuguese BBQ. The décor inside is pretty much the same as the former Osteria del Toro, and is still extremely elegant and plush in its surroundings. Continue reading
Park Road Hottie!
Park the car now in Park Road and checkout Park Kitchen. There’s a new hottie in town and it’s not Scarlett Johansson! This is a must stop, located opposite the Roxy in Miramar. Yes I’m back in the ‘burbs and as soon as I walked into this place, I was absolutely blown away by the decor and the fab use of space;they have two main separate dining areas, a retro lounge area and an alfresco area. And checkout the amazing bathrooms! Continue reading
Hola Basque
Basque on Courtenay Place has been on my foodietraveller list for awhile now. I recently chose here to catchup with two gorgeous blonde friends. As soon as you enter it’s alive and buzzy with such a cool, young vibe. Strangers beside you become your besties instantly. It took us back to our youth.
Not just eggs at Egmont!
I discovered Egmont St Eatery (ex carpark) when I took a detour off Dixon St, while running an errand. What a treasure. This is another wee hidden CBD gem. My dental hygienist and I got chatting about this place (fyi, best dental visit ever) and we both raved about it. We both loved its multi-level, space, design, let alone the food and cocktails. Continue reading

It’s not just another hole in the wall!
More authentic Vietnamese street food, but I just can’t get enough of this right now!
Feed your belly and your mind
I was surprised recently when someone mentioned there were not many Vietnamese restaurants in Welly. I was so proud to rattle them all off and I have yet to visit them all myself. Continue reading
A slice of Saigon in Welly
Annam has brought us an authentic taste of French and Vietnamese dishes due to the French colonisation of Vietnam.Under culinary local Chris Green’s old Arbitrageur roof, he provides us with a snapshot of a bustling, contemporary slice of Vietnam. He is assisted by Nikki Chung owner of Willis St’s Nam cafe. Continue reading
