Wellington is so spoiled with its frenzy of foodtrucks popping up everywhere. No sooner do I turn my back and boom a new one arrives in my midst. Outside Moore Wilson Fresh, two foodie trucksters get to showcase their wares on a rotational basis. There is also the permanent Chookwagon located upstairs in the carpark. Since visiting, Meatballers and EatStreet replaced Fat PoBoys and the French Crepe foodtruck. And this week The Greek FoodTruck has joined the food pod party. Plus The Moustache Milk & Cookie Foodtruck in Marion St has just hit Welly, temporarily from Auckland. Fancy a freshly baked bacon choc chip cookie with your gourmet shake or coffee? Apparently us Wellingtonians are more adventurous than the Jaffas, so go on and be a devil!
What a decadent Friday afternoon high tea we had, hosting our clients at Hippopotamus for Wellington on a Plate. Chef de patisserie, David Cadoret, personally created a fantastic selection of treats and joined with Whittakers to deliver Wellingtonians and outtatowners, a beautiful high tea brimming with chocolate concoctions.Surrounded by the backdrop of a stunning almost summer-like day with a view of our Welly harbour, amongst the elegant surroundings of the Museum Art Hotel, it was unbeaten. Bonus post this week. Ok so you know I’m not a pie, doughnut or burger gal but every now and then I decide to splash out to satisfy my curiosity and have some fun. I choose to live a healthy clean lifestyle 95 % of the time as I want to live a long life without any major illness or disease. So I only decided late in the week to do a Welly on a plate burger challenge.
Georgia’s espresso is yet another innovative container cafe that’s opened up by the Zeal crew, on the corner of Dixon and Victoria Streets. They have also been part of Wellyonaplate by serving different filled doughnuts for 10 days; each of which are created by various Welly chefs along with their fantastic People’s coffee.
