This is about my fifth visit to Mama Brown but no post as it was in my pre-blogging days. They’ve since changed their menu and their hours. Now open Wed- Sunday, they’ve finally realised that they need to open earlier on weekends. Each time I’ve driven by on a weekend, I’ve noticed how much fuller the café is. However my bug bear is, if they open at 9am, they should be ready to go at 9am. Not be taking chairs off tables and wiping tables. This is not ok. Continue reading
I’d read and heard good reviews about Comes and Goes, so being competitive as I am, I wanted to check it out pronto. After a tough Sunday hill walk we arrived bang-on noon. There were people milling outside the door so my empty stomach and heart was in my mouth, as I was concerned there was a queue. Foodietraveller and her hubby do not wait. Sadly we were told the wait was 40 mins for a table, however I suggested we’d be happy sitting on the bar stools, so our host obliged. We also had a great view of the busy, open kitchen. Goodness how uncanny that Fidel Castro just recently died and I’ve just revisited his namesake peaceful place in Welly. This actually wasn’t our first choice for the gals regular catchup but the menu across the road just didn’t do it for us, so Fidels it was. It’s a Wellington institution and you just never tire of it as it just rocks all day long morning, lunch and dinner.
