After our challenging and enjoyable big walk on Sunday – Paekakariki to Pukera Bay Escarpment hill track, lunch was in order. Foodietraveller didn’t really do much research in advance, however hubby was hangry and we weren’t happy with the 3 local cafes, so Eileen quickly googled tripadvisor for us. The Raumati Social club came up as an option. Cool name and a recent dinner party guest had mentioned this. Done. What was another 7 drives up the road to get good food right. Continue reading
Wow Ponsonby Central is foodie heaven and foodie dilemma at the same time. I visited here when in Auckland on a prior trip, not around meal time and put this on my foodie list for this visit. This is a MUST stop. Continue reading
First trip to Vietnam, we so loved chaotic Hanoi and our junk boat overnight trip to Halong Bay. This visit I joined hubby’s golf trip to Da Nang. We stayed at the fabulous 5 star Pullman Danang Beach Resort, 15 mins from Danang airport. It’s set amongst lush vegetation and the most stunning white sandy beach. Service and food is fantastic. The buffet breakfast stations are amazing, let alone the various coffees you can order, and you must try their liquid nitrogen icecream and cocktails. I’m still dreaming about their food. Taking the TGV from Paris to Bordeaux was easy. Our Quality Bordeaux Centre location was perfect being smack bang in town, but far too dangerous for shopping (not), near the longest pedestrian street in Europe; Rue St Catherine! Funnily enough we struggled to find any French bistros on the street but sniffed out a newly opened Singapore Street Food restaurant. Our lunch was sensational. Continue reading
We decided to make an unplanned stop in Narbonne as a tribute to Jerry Collins. That’s the beauty of having a rental car! It was a pretty wee town with nice shops, restaurants, church etc. and it was fun watching the barges go through the locks. Plus I scored my pink floral sneakers there, on sale of course.
This has been my best trip to Hawkes Bay to date, as I got to go to six amazing new cafe/restaurant/bars. I’m combining six blog posts in one and you won’t be disappointed.
I’ve only ever had two amazing degustations in Wellington; Citron and Jano Bistro. Black Sesame Kitchen in Beijing was no exception. It was so en point. Thank you to my dear friend Tania who recommended this place. Continue reading
First stop Shanghai via business class with Air New Zealand. A sensational way to start our holiday. The food, entertainment and service was amazing. The 10 day tour was the best way to see a lot in a short time. It was very flexible and gave us independence. http://www.chinaodysseytours.com Continue reading
Living in Brooklyn, Wellington and being Italian, I’m so glad I booked ‘A slice of Brooklyn bus tour” starting in Manhattan, NYC. It was highly rated on tripadvisor as one of the best tours, and I can see why. Book online www.asliceofbrooklyn.com.
