Modica to Agrigento – Sicilia!

Choosing which places to visit was challenging as of course I wanted to go everywhere.  I can fortunately say I choose well as 9/10 places were fabulous. Sadly we left Ortigia, Siracusa and headed for Modica; famous for chocolate. OMG it was such a beautiful town, inland set on a hill. That day our car thermometer hit 40 degrees! Continue reading

Mrs Brown or Mama Brown?

This is about my fifth visit to Mama Brown but no post as it was in my pre-blogging days. They’ve since changed their menu and their hours. Now open Wed- Sunday, they’ve finally realised that they need to open earlier on weekends. Each time I’ve driven by on a weekend, I’ve noticed how much fuller the café is.  However my bug bear is, if they open at 9am, they should be ready to go at 9am. Not be taking chairs off tables and wiping tables. This is not ok. Continue reading

Austrian Welly deli

Third visit but first review as the food was always very good, but the service appalling. I had boycotted my local along with other Brooklynites for 2 years because of the rude lady that used to work there. What a difference, now she’s gone. Obviously the menu has since changed. Read on to find out. Continue reading

Bravo Amano!

This was my second attempt to try out this funky, Italian restaurant in Britomart.  Fortunately we secured a reservation this time. I got there early so I could soak up the ambiance, take some snaps and peruse the menu. Girlfriend got a park right outside in Tyler St. Perfect start. Continue reading

Don’t Mess with Texas!

I saved a few special Texan foodie/music spots till last, as they deserve their own review. Thanks to fellow foodietraveller friend Ronda, for her research. Salt lick BBQ was the bee’s knees as far as BBQ goes, as was the blues at the Skylark lounge and a fab brekkie at Magnolia South Cafe. Bula Denarau Fiji; 2017

Nothing excites me more than sharing with you, my annual trip to Denarau Fiji. Hubby goes for work so I tag along for the ride and enjoy a week of bliss by the pool. Fiji will always be my home away from home as we’ve been coming here for years so it’s very familiar. It’s nice to see a few changes too. Continue reading

If you ever get the chance on the West Coast of New Zealand, you must stay and eat at the award winning Te Waonui Forest Retreat. We were greeted with a traditional Maori welcome as soon as we drove up while our car was valet parked.  Continue reading
