Yoshi Sushi and Bento; say that fast three times and someone will think you’re speaking fluent Japanese! My foodie instagrammer friends and I, often influence each other about new places to frequent, and this one popped up on my feed. As they highly recommended the chicken karaage as being a goodie, I couldn’t go past it, so headed to Press Hall to check it out. Continue reading
Finally I made it to Tokeyo with some gals after work. This place came highly recommended and it did not fail to disappoint. In fact it exceeded our expectations. We were warmly welcomed and as we’d arrived earlier than expected, we decided to have a pre-dinner drink. Continue reading
What a wee find Origami was on my walk along upper Cuba Street recently. Perfect for our Sunday quick, cheap and cheerful lunch.
The menu has a a wide selection of bento, sushi, ramen dishes so it took us awhile to make a decision. Cold, hungry and saturated as we caught in the downpour on our 10km walk, were keen to order. Hubby chose the gyoza (vege dumplings) for a shared starter. He absolutely loved them. I thought they were ok. I had the pork cutlet salad which was served with miso soup. It was so delicious. Hubby had a very tasty beef noodle soup, which warmed the cockles of his heart.
Whilst I was hoeing in on my salad, I spotted a table advertisement for an iced green tea latte. Boom. Even though it was a chilly day, I wasn’t going to pass up on this opportunity. This took me back to China where I discovered it. It kinda tastes healthy but is not really, made with healthy matcha but lots of sugar so ok for a rare treat.
Second visit, I tried the chicken and vege set with miso. It was divine and the veges were al dente just like I like them. Portions are great so I didn’t need the rice, so a good paleo dish. They offer a glutenfree and vegetarian menu too.
Service was friendly and efficient, however as this place is really spacious and elongated in style, staff work down the back, so you may have to wave or holler for their attention (hoping the former not the latter!). It’s clean and light, with funky Japanese murals on the wall. I defo will return as there are so many yummy dishes to try, including the green tea icecream. Itadakimasu.
