While the first international ice hockey game in Wellington, Canada vs USA was delayed, we headed to The Churchill, Northern end of Lambton Quay, to kill some time. This place is another venture linked to the Wellington Hospitality Group. I’ve not heard of anyone that’s been to this gastropub, so Ann, Eileen and I were quite excited to try something new. Welly is now not only the coffee capital of the world but making a name for itself with craft beer. Breweries or brewpubs are just popping up everywhere. I love the fact that even if you’re not a beer drinker, they offer spirits, all types of wine, bubbles and booch. Will the real Slim Shady please stand up, please stand up! Slim Davey’s Friendly Neighbourhood saloon (a bit of a mouthful but quirky), reminds me of that Eminem song. This pub is next door to and owned by the boys from Ortega Fish Shack and Bar in Marjoribanks St. Mt Victorians are so lucky as this is yet another cool place in their hood with Five Boroughs, the Mt Vic Chippery and Capitol.
