Gypseys, tramps and thieves!

Gipsy Kitchen in Jessie Street is the baby sister of Gipsy Kitchen in Strathmore- not spelt gypsy the way we know it. The Strathmore location at night is fab. Their tapas are to die for. The city location is on a way smaller scale but packs in a lot of punch within its tight space. The ecletic décor is divine; from the fabulous bright mural outside which flows nicely into equally bright colours inside. No sign of any gypsies, tramps or thieves today though. Continue reading

Squeaky clean investment!

I was encouraged to write this gut-health blog by two dear friends, Maria and Hema. I was hesitant as it’s not within the realms of restaurant/travel reviews, however it’s part of my health and wellness lifestyle. I hope you learn something from my journey. Continue reading

Bravo Amano!

This was my second attempt to try out this funky, Italian restaurant in Britomart.  Fortunately we secured a reservation this time. I got there early so I could soak up the ambiance, take some snaps and peruse the menu. Girlfriend got a park right outside in Tyler St. Perfect start. Continue reading

My favourite part of our Mexico tour!

Ok peeps, this is my fave part of our tour so far, hence the zillion photos. The great part of being a blogger is you get to relive and reflect on your experiences through sharing with others, after the fact. This makes me more grateful. Continue reading

Cured by San Antonio, Texas

Our final night in darling San Antonio and we finished with a bang. Thanks to my trusty foodie research advisor friend Ronda, she recommended Cured at Pearl, as being the numero uno place to dine at. So we were taken on an amazing gastronomic journey and this was one of our Texan highlights. Continue reading

Take 2: Texas Beer and BBQs

After arriving in Houston and meeting fellow foodies, our first stop was to get us some Texan BBQ. Burns Original BBQ was on our long list. It was in the burbs and in a dinkie dive with only outdoor seating, but boy were the ribs, brisket, beans and potato finger lick in’ good. We stayed at the lovely Hilton Sam Curio hotel. That night we took in The Houston Astros vs Miami Marlins baseball which was great. Poor Houston now though, do they have a problem thanks not to Hurricane Harry. Continue reading

Petone is the new Ponsonby!

I’ve always been a big fan of Petone. It holds fond memories for me.  40+ years ago, I used to hang out here with my Italian grandparents, Aunties and Uncles on their Friday briscola card night. Back then I didn’t speak Italian, but I just loved the social gatherings.. Look how Petone has blossomed since then. Continue reading

David Jones cafe

We all loved Kirks, but I also really love its replacement; David Jones. More-so because we beat the Aucklanders to something for a change!. It’s a huge magnet for the city as well. There’s just something international and classy about it, and it exudes great energy. David Jones stores in Aussie are complimented with lovely cafes to match. Ours isn’t quite there yet, but has oodles of potential.

Fantastic Greek Cuisine in Wellington!

Oikos (pronounced EE-kos), meaning family, is located in the burbs of Miramar, aka Wellywood. It’s enhanced Wellingtonian’s availability to access authentic Greek food. Following nicely in The Greek Foodtruck’s greek footsteps of course. Theo Papouis is living his dream, by kindly sharing with us a taste of his Greek heritage, and welcoming us into his Greek family, via his beautiful food and wine, based on Ancient Hellenic cuisine.
