Local Brooklyn Indian restaurant

Recently I got my swagger on and headed to Swagat, the new local Indian restaurant in Brooklyn. I was joined by Emma, Marc and baby Penelope, who are big lovers of Indian food. Since it opened, I had been observing the clientele and all hours of the day it was frequented by Indian businessmen, friends and families, so that spoke volumes. Continue reading

Gypseys, tramps and thieves!

Gipsy Kitchen in Jessie Street is the baby sister of Gipsy Kitchen in Strathmore- not spelt gypsy the way we know it. The Strathmore location at night is fab. Their tapas are to die for. The city location is on a way smaller scale but packs in a lot of punch within its tight space. The ecletic décor is divine; from the fabulous bright mural outside which flows nicely into equally bright colours inside. No sign of any gypsies, tramps or thieves today though. Continue reading

Staying alive!

I’m so pleased Tinakori Bistro was salvaged from shutting down. What a survivor as it’s been around for donkeys. We hadn’t been here for donkeys either. The décor hasn’t changed but boy the menu and cuisine has. French is our ultimate fave and especially a treat for my birthday. Continue reading

Bravo Amano!

This was my second attempt to try out this funky, Italian restaurant in Britomart.  Fortunately we secured a reservation this time. I got there early so I could soak up the ambiance, take some snaps and peruse the menu. Girlfriend got a park right outside in Tyler St. Perfect start. Continue reading

Sometimes a fantastic café can actually be so close yet so far right?. Sorry Aro Street Café you are just that, but not anymore after my recent visits. You are so quiet and modest and sit nicely on Aro Street, yet you just scream such goodness. Hubby and I have even walked past you often on Sundays, but it’s ok as you are now safely again on my radar. We’re also aware now that you’re open for dinner. Cool beans. Continue reading

Choosing which photos to share with you was my biggest dilemma post my 5th trip to Paris. I now endeavour to be like a Parisian when I visit and I have so not yet finished with you Paris yet. Continue reading
