Welly is now not only the coffee capital of the world but making a name for itself with craft beer. Breweries or brewpubs are just popping up everywhere. I love the fact that even if you’re not a beer drinker, they offer spirits, all types of wine, bubbles and booch. This is about my fifth visit to Mama Brown but no post as it was in my pre-blogging days. They’ve since changed their menu and their hours. Now open Wed- Sunday, they’ve finally realised that they need to open earlier on weekends. Each time I’ve driven by on a weekend, I’ve noticed how much fuller the café is. However my bug bear is, if they open at 9am, they should be ready to go at 9am. Not be taking chairs off tables and wiping tables. This is not ok. Continue reading
After arriving in Houston and meeting fellow foodies, our first stop was to get us some Texan BBQ. Burns Original BBQ was on our long list. It was in the burbs and in a dinkie dive with only outdoor seating, but boy were the ribs, brisket, beans and potato finger lick in’ good. We stayed at the lovely Hilton Sam Curio hotel. That night we took in The Houston Astros vs Miami Marlins baseball which was great. Poor Houston now though, do they have a problem thanks not to Hurricane Harry. Continue reading
Second visit to Husk Bar; Brewery, Roastery and Café as I needed to give them another chance. Hubby humoured me and was keen to try this place for Sunday lunch. First visit was with my adorable French/Kiwi friend Annick, we loved everything but it was spoiled by the service from a middle-age grumpy waitress, Fortunately she was not here today, so hopefully has moved on.
