Secluded, safe, and serene, would be words to sum up this beautiful Pacific island. Only 3.5 hrs flight with Air New Zealand weekly from Auckland, Niue cannot be compared with any other island. Set within a white Victorian villa, good ‘ole Boulcott Bistro is still alive and well and is one of Welly’s great dining institutions. The décor is stunning. We both have a soft spot for BSB as it’s always consistent with great food and service, and it’s a five star dining experience without the pricetag. As it’s on the outskirts of the CBD you tend to forget about it, however we visit at least annually and I’d love to visit more in future. Continue reading

Shepherd Restaurant in Hannahs Laneway, Wellington is the combined talent of Masterchefs Shepherd Elliott (Leeds Street Bakery, Ti Kouka ) and Sean Golding (Golding’s Free Dive). We arrived in Guilin early evening, after an awful flight on China Eastern; service and food atrocious. Lucky we snared a few fabulous dumplings for lunch at Shanghai airport to tide us over.Wendy our guide greeted us and we drove to the Giulin Park Hotel.
