Nothing excites me more than sharing with you, my annual trip to Denarau Fiji. Hubby goes for work so I tag along for the ride and enjoy a week of bliss by the pool. Fiji will always be my home away from home as we’ve been coming here for years so it’s very familiar. It’s nice to see a few changes too. Continue reading

Mmm I now have another favourite hangout in Fiji. I don’t wanna cheat on L’Epicier at the Hilton or Taste Kitchen Cafe in Martindar, but I’m now spoilt for choice. I guess these places are lucky I have found them … Continue reading
My wee little trendy local here in Nadi, Fiji. Offering a great selection of espressos, lattes, mochas, iced coffees using Piazza D’Oro brand, teas, frappes, smoothies, shakes and juices.
It was international relations today as I got to take Danish, American, Norwegian, German, Japanese and Mongolian friends for great coffee and food. It was soooo good, we went twice in one day. Their eyes boggled at the delectable pastries and desserts in the cabinet and they took ages deciding what to choose. We settled for Berliners (donuts with jam) and pain au chocolat and lattes. The patissier (French baker) deserves a big round of applause from us as these little babies are of true European standard and taste!
Whilst working on a volunteer nutrition programme in Fiji, our director introduced us to this amazing superfood saijan (pronounced si-jan) or known as moringa. This grows wild in the backyard. It has a slight bitter taste and is a great digestive so can be made into a tea and is also fab to throw in smoothies, salads, curries, pasta, stirfries, casseroles, eggs or anything.
Many of you will know I just spent a week in Fiji; my home away from home. I continue to love the place more and more each time I visit.
As soon as I step off the plane (Air New Zealand, my preferred airline), the instant heat and the familiar sound of the Fijian voices singing to welcome tourists, melts my heart and I feel at peace and at home. You can fly with Fiji Airways or via Australia, Virgin, Qantas or Jetstar. The airport hasn’t changed much at all over the years but still functions well. Transport in shoddy taxis is all part of the fun taking us to one of the lovely 4-5 star resorts in Denarau; either the Wyndam, Radisson, Sheraton, Sheraton Villas, Sofitel and Hilton. Make sure you ask about room configuration at the Villas, as these are very popular and they have 2 story or 1 story villas which are great for families.
