I was encouraged to write this gut-health blog by two dear friends, Maria and Hema. I was hesitant as it’s not within the realms of restaurant/travel reviews, however it’s part of my health and wellness lifestyle. I hope you learn something from my journey. Continue reading
Papa Satay now has a second restaurant in Allen Street, just off Courtenay Place in the CBD. Their original one is doing very well in the burbs of Johnsonville. As a Malaysian cuisine fan, I was inspired to organise a cheap and cheerful girls night out. Continue reading
I’ve suddenly gravitated back to Indian cuisine. I used to make Indian curries from scratch years ago, but one day hubby decided he didn’t like Indian, so strangely I stopped eating it too. However halleluyah, he’s seen the light, after trying a curry in Fiji, and now is ok with it again. Roll on a trip to India to do a comparison. Anyway I digress. Curry Heaven has just opened up in Bond Street and it’s already a gold mine. Continue reading
My last minute organised catchup with friends at the Botanist in Lyall Bay, proved worthwhile. We were all newbies and terribly excited. I was warned about the bad service and wait for coffees/food, however that so did not happen for us. I take positive good vibes with me and always have a pleasant experience. It was perfect on all counts with a stunning Welly day to top it off. Continue reading
I usually visit Greytown a few times a year and as soon as I arrive, I’m filled with a sense of calm. An obligatory stop was made again at 2 short whites eatery and preservatory. It’s situated in a newly developed area at 76 Main Street Greytown. The location is dangerous though, as it’s near the most gorgeous boutique Deluxe, so then suddenly my lunch becomes costly. Hey rubber duckie get your ears on, as it looks like we’ve found us a Tomboy. Tomboy! The cutest, quaintest eatery in town, tucked into Marjoribanks St, in the hip hood of Mt Victoria in Wellington. Continue reading
I was so excited to learn that the Beach House & Kiosk, a former cringeworthy café, not far from my Brooklyn hood, had been kissed by a frog and turned into a Princess. All credit of course goes to ex Elements café owners Scott and Nicola Barrett. These guys have a great rep and they’ve struck gold yet again.
Set within a white Victorian villa, good ‘ole Boulcott Bistro is still alive and well and is one of Welly’s great dining institutions. The décor is stunning. We both have a soft spot for BSB as it’s always consistent with great food and service, and it’s a five star dining experience without the pricetag. As it’s on the outskirts of the CBD you tend to forget about it, however we visit at least annually and I’d love to visit more in future. Continue reading
