Lido revamped!

Given Lido has just reopened post earthquake strengthening, they killed two birds with one stone and took the opportunity to do a beautiful soft refurb. The exterior front counter is covered in a gorgeous, pink copper metal and the walls are painted a peaceful turquoise with matching coloured booth seating in place. They’ve also had a change of ownership, so I thought it was worthy to write a new blog. Continue reading

Moss Cafe

Last year, my gym friend Rebecca told me about a café that catered for glutards and paleo followers.  I never caught the name of it and forgot about it. MossCaff is situated in the ASB centre in Hunter Street. I recently saw a post of a coconut latte from a fellow Instagram friend and boom, foodtraveller as enticed. Continue reading

Capitol in the Capital!

I love this wee café/restaurant perfectly situated on the corner of Cambridge Terrace and Marjoribanks Street. It’s very Parisian and the people watching is out of this world.  Step inside with me. Continue reading

Raglan Roast Coffee’s mission is to “make coffee, that’s great, fast and affordable” – and boy are they en point! They started with an old coffee machine at the back of a kite surfing shop, 16 years ago. They have matured and now working with the best coffee brewing and grinding equipment, producing amazing tasting coffee. The secret? Roasting daily to ensure their coffee is in primo, fresh condition. They have 8 locations in New Zealand; 3 in Hamilton, 1 in Nelson and 4 in Welly. Continue reading

Winston Churchill is alive in Welly!

While the first international ice hockey game in Wellington, Canada vs USA was delayed, we headed to The Churchill, Northern end of Lambton Quay, to kill some time. This place is another venture linked to the Wellington Hospitality Group. I’ve not heard of anyone that’s been to this gastropub, so Ann, Eileen and I were quite excited to try something new. I can’t even remember what it was called before it was Paris as it’s had quite several name changes. For the oldies out there it used to be The 1860. Now that’s going back a few years. Continue reading

Best gluten-free pasta ever!

Eleven fifty four, come in please. Your number is up, but in a good way! 1154 Pasteria is the new hip pasta joint in town that was the former Ernesto’s. Another brilliant venture created by the Italian-Kiwi Bresolin brothers, who also own Scopa opposite and Bresolin in Willis Street. Continue reading

Mr Panman bring me a dream!

po

Hola! Popup Panman’s Spanish gourmet takeaways  are located at the Wadestown shops. Such a fantastic concept and kudos goes to Mr Ian Hornblow, well known hospo foodie in Wellington, who works here with his sons. Nothing wrong with a good solid Father and Son business I say. You’ll find them prepping their paella – classic or vege, on Thursdays and Sundays. Continue reading

Welly is always opening and closing cafes right. If it wasn’t for your trusted, honest foodietraveller blogger, most of you foodies would be none the wiser perhaps. Mind you the DomPost Life Insert on Wednesdays, is great for keeping us all up to date with the café/restaurant movers and shakers. Continue reading
