Hola! Popup Panman’s Spanish gourmet takeaways are located at the Wadestown shops. Such a fantastic concept and kudos goes to Mr Ian Hornblow, well known hospo foodie in Wellington, who works here with his sons. Nothing wrong with a good solid Father and Son business I say. You’ll find them prepping their paella – classic or vege, on Thursdays and Sundays. It’s so easy as all you need to do is text through your order, specify the quantity and either single ($10) or large ($18) portions of a classic or vegetarian paella. They also serve meatballs with Spanish potatoes and a lemon tarte or crema Catalan (Spanish custard) dessert.
I ordered a vegetarian and classic meal for friends in need with two desserts, and a classic and meatball dish with two desserts for hubby and me. I got a park right outside and boom was off with my meals on wheels. Four happy customers.
The paella is spicy as they use a delicious smoked ‘Hoot’ sauce and it just oozes with delicious flavours. The meatballs were the bomb also and we loved both. As for the desserts, it was nice to go halvies. The girls gave them both the thumbs up, the boys not so much.
They do catering for parties and weddings and it’s something a bit different. Keeping it simple is key to their success, although there may be plans in the future to expand the menu. The service is friendly and efficient. This is a MUST visit!
Mr Panman bring me a dream, feed me the tastiest paella I’ve ever seen!!
