St John’s Bar and restaurant is the bomb location on a nice sunny Welly day. Check out the blue sky in my photo for proof that Summer did arrive albeit very late this year. They have outside tables, umbrellas and a cool grass area with bean bags and this place caters for the old and young alike. Continue reading

Vietnam revisited!

First trip to Vietnam, we so loved chaotic Hanoi and our junk boat overnight trip to Halong Bay. This visit I joined hubby’s golf trip to Da Nang. We stayed at the fabulous 5 star Pullman Danang Beach Resort, 15 mins from Danang airport. It’s set amongst lush vegetation and the most stunning white sandy beach. Service and food is fantastic. The buffet breakfast stations are amazing, let alone the various coffees you can order, and you must try their liquid nitrogen icecream and cocktails. I’m still dreaming about their food. Finally Mr Go’s has been given a second chance and has reopened on Taranaki St, opposite Les Mills. It also had time to make some adjustments to the menu in the interim. Peeps we have authentic, Asian hawker food right on our doorstep. Continue reading

Pappa can preach!

When Pappa Rich first opened in Grey St, opposite Hotel InterContinental, there was a queue to get in. This is always the way in Wellington and although I don’t like to wait, I love the fact that it demonstrates that Wellingtonians are curious foodies. We’re eager to test and support new venues. If you’re a Wellingtonian and you still feel a little cheated with our summer, although it’s making up for it, you won’t be cheated of your riches here. The food is fabulous and affordable.
