Chow always provides consistency with its Asian-fusion small or large plates. This is a great stop for for a fabulous quick or long lingering and tasty meal. Of course it even tastes better when you have a 2 for 1 $25 voucher. They also do 2 for 1 cocktails Monday nights.
Lunch date Sunday, we had the most wonderful $25 lunch (total) which included a glass of savvie and a beersie. We shared their signature Castro’s blue cheese and peanut wontons which are so delicious, they leave you speechless. This was followed by mussel fritters with carrot, garlic and coriander, salt and pepper squid and free range pork and shitake mushroom dumplings. Everything was just so darn delishimo. I haven’t been here for such a long time and the bold, crisp, clean flavours just hang around for ages in your mouth. Mwah.
Taste was 11/10 along with presentation. Service was so delightfully friendly and I wouldn’t hesitate in a second to return. Perhaps on a Monday night and grab a few 2 for 1 cocktails and sample again one of their set menus. These are such good bang for your buck.
Chow is connected (physically and business-wise) to Motel Bar (yep the one famous for turning Liv Tyler away)- so go check that out as you so do not feel you’re in Wellington in that place. Their cocktails are sublime. Plus you can also access via Chow the iconic Library Bar. This is so funky and sophisticated and serves amazing modern, casual, healthy tapas with an Asian twist, and fabbo cocktails. The varied areas of dining are just uber cool. But wait there’s more.
I grabbed a 2 for 1 special waffle voucher for my next treat day to test out the wee hole in the wall waffle shop downstairs. This is also part of their establishment. Will it ever end? Ooh I can’t wait.
Chow you just know how to cater for all different walks of life. Ciao Chow!
