How uncanny that we chose to eat at The Bresolin on Willis Street the same week that the DomPost features a tribute to Remiro Bresolin (Il Casino). Bravissimo! He will be smiling proudly from heaven, on sons Leonardo and Lorenzo (Current owners of Scopa, Duke Carvells, Tommy Millions and the former Crazyhorse) and his new grandson restaurant; as they add yet another unique eatery to the Wellington foodie scene. They have done a sterling job (and spent lots of sterling!) on transforming this beautiful Edwardian villa into a fantastic array of dining rooms, bar and outside weather courtyard, so you can relax and enjoy good food and drink. I discovered Egmont St Eatery (ex carpark) when I took a detour off Dixon St, while running an errand. What a treasure. This is another wee hidden CBD gem. My dental hygienist and I got chatting about this place (fyi, best dental visit ever) and we both raved about it. We both loved its multi-level, space, design, let alone the food and cocktails. I thought I’d change-up my Saturday ritual lunch of sous-vide eggs with salad and try one of Jo’s pies in Cleveland St Brooklyn. What a treat. I’m not a pie girl by any means so if I do have one, I’d say probably annually, it’s gotta be a goodie. This certainly was up there in my ratings and a very, very close second to Café Mirabelle’s (Carterton) and Barista’s café in Panama St. Continue reading
More authentic Vietnamese street food, but I just can’t get enough of this right now!
In Napier for work, I got to enjoy Scenic Te Pania hotel’s restaurant. Yes I hear you groan as hotel food has a reputation of not being that flash right? However, not The Exchange Bar and Brasserie which appears to sit under the radar. I was so impressed with how sensational the food was, let alone the setting and fantastic service, that I had to share this and it comes totally unprompted and unbiased. Continue reading
