Welly is now not only the coffee capital of the world but making a name for itself with craft beer. Breweries or brewpubs are just popping up everywhere. I love the fact that even if you’re not a beer drinker, they offer spirits, all types of wine,  bubbles and booch. Joe’s Garage is a franchise and was founded in Queenstown’s old Post Office sorting room. and they have 11 locations around NZ. Such a fantastic concept and kudos goes to Mr Ian Hornblow, well known hospo foodie in Wellington, who works here with his sons. Nothing wrong with a good solid Father and Son business I say. Wellington is getting more like Melbourne by the minute. I’m loving the swanky new Press Hall; gourmet food eatery/laneway with rooftop bar on Willis Street. It’s still a WIP so I’m told and am shocked there are still people that walk past who’ve never heard of it or been before. The signage and marketing needs a bit more work.  Continue reading

Life is too short.

Life is too short to eat or drink anything less than ordinary is the philosophy of the newly opened brewery – Whistling Sisters on Taranaki Street. A group of peeps have poured their creativity into doing everything here on site; from brewing their own beer, curing their charcuterie, kneading their dough and even roasting their own coffee. Their focus is on pickling and fermentation. Love that. Post our traditional big Sunday walk, we did a swing by. Continue reading
